UP! — It’s all about FOCUS! Plus a Giveaway :)

Recently, on Leslie Zampetti’s blog, Rear in Gear, she posed a question about how to get kids to talk about what they’re reading. As I began typing my comment in response, it got me thinking about what’s at the core of the issue. My thoughts came full circle, ultimately encompassing what’s at the core of many “road blocks,” even for we adults. Whether it’s to do with getting kids to talk, writing a novel, or just about any task or issue with a similar obstacle, it comes down to focus and how we go about achieving that.

  1. I just visited your Stanley and Katrina post. I’m so glad you joined the book blast! It’s good to know your limits and not over-commit and I also appreciate that you want to stick with G rated books. I have two WordPress accounts and I realize most people are not aware of the one that I share with Hubby – namely our ministry one – that’s why I let you know who was commenting on your sister blog. 🙂 By the way, if you need blog buttons with HTML and grab box, you can order through me at a good price – I’ll use your art if you want (jpg or png). I will not share your work with others – I appreciate and adhere to copyright rules. 🙂

    • I’m glad I did the book blast, too 🙂 As you were so kind to read, I can’t make it a habit for all the reasons I mentioned. And you know, keeping anything G-rated can sometimes be a challenge, depending on what you’re doing. On my Creativity Cookbook blog, I have what I call “Basement Bops” (under Art Forms>Music), and so many songs that seem innocuous actually have a lot of sexual innuendos, or it’s difficult to find YouTube videos that don’t have inappropriate content. It really narrows down the music choices I will post!

Btw, what do you mean by blog buttons with HTML and grab box? I’m clueless! lol Learning as I go with some stuff 🙂 Thanks, Tina!

P.S. Enjoyed learning about your ministry site, too 🙂

    • Colleen, that’s so sweet of you 🙂 I’m certainly flattered AND surprised! I know bloggers often give and receive different awards, but I never pay attention to them really, and don’t know much about them : /

I had seen your post just prior to seeing this comment and as I took a quick scan of what you posted, it was so weird seeing my blog listed there! lol I’m not sure what I’m supposed to do, but later on, after I do the other stuff I need to do today, I’ll read your post again and try to get a grasp on it lol Thanks, Colleen. It’s such a compliment!

      • Just write a bit about yourself and nominate some blogs that you like or inspire you. Just make sure to let them know you nominated them as a courtesy. This is a way for newer bloggers to find other bloggers and gain the inspiration from the blogging community. ❤

        • Colleen, thank you for explaining that to me! I really wasn’t sure of the purpose other than acquiring accolades (I’m not into the “accolade” aspect, but certainly like support ! 🙂 ). So, I write a post focusing on the award since it’s like a blop hop of sorts, is my understanding? Is there a list or site of some kind that actually explains these different “awards” and what they stand for? I’m clueless!

          • You have the idea. I did not receive instructions on these particular ones. It is really about getting to know one another while reading and encouraging other bloggers. If you look at some of my awards at my site you will see some had questions. I think just a brief bio of yourself and your blog is great.
