It’s all about the Written Word–    

                                   as readers, writers, illustrators,

                                   as booksellers or industry professionals, 

                                   for oneself or for the world at large…

Whether it be fiction or non-fiction, through text or illustration, in books, articles, blogs or any of the many other literary forms, at the core of the written word is the desire for expression and communication—that undeniable, innate need for connection between a reader and the creator of the work.  This blog is not only about what encompasses “everything written” (including writing with pictures), but exists for the purpose of expression, communication and connection—with kindred spirits of all ages. I am genuinely passionate about Books and the Written Word, and chances are, if you are visiting this blog and reading this, you share that passion.

I will never be satiated by the word-filled world of literature—especially children’s, with its many facets and people occupying its realm. That’s why I spend an inordinate amount of time on many book and writing-related blogs which dapple the ever-expanding blogosphere. Many offer invaluable tips and resources that, when I come across them, will share. What will be offered on Writer Side UP! is meant to supplement more than reiterate what may be found elsewhere, with the intent of being useful and to spark worthy discussion. Much of what you will find here will be what I consider eclectic selections of resources and information worth noting. I will also include any helpful tips I’ve developed and knowledge I’ve gained through personal experience if I consider it valuable and worth sharing. Please be sure to click on each Page in the Navigation Bar to view each drop-down heading and subheading to find topic descriptions of value and interest to you. These pages will grow over time, with ever-increasing information.

Regardless of the emphasis placed on the common practice of posting every day, or at least several times per week, I will hold to no restrictive posting schedule. Though I would love to offer one focused post each week or so, life often doesn’t allow for such consistency, so I don’t plan to pressure myself unnecessarily, regardless of the many ideas for posts I may have. Such deadlines would ultimately force unworthy subject matter and/or subpar quality of writing and who has time to waste in that way, right?

I also do not want either of my “sister” blogs (yes, there are two) to become burdensome for you by adding to the overload of your already-inundated inboxes. Besides, if you’re like me, you also want to participate on other blogs, and even more importantly—allow for sufficient time spent off the internet. If you follow Writer Side UP!, you will be notified by email each time a new post is published. As for “blips” of new content added to its pages between official posts, I will tweet about them, and also list a summary at the end of each new post to keep you abreast of new info that may interest you.
