Wow, it’s yet another year we can all “make our mark” on the absolutely FABulous day we celebrate CREATIVITY — International Dot Day! 😀
Since I’ve been able to post my own dots here on my blog, this is now my fourth year as a proud participant 🙂 I was able to create special dots for years 2014, 2015 and 2016, and of course wanted to do so this year, but life has been quite full as of late (I have a beautiful granddaughter now <3). But that doesn’t mean I’m not going to participate!
I’m very much into eyes and always have been. From when I was a young girl, I was in the habit of drawing eyes, they being my favorite “doodle” subject. In fact, one of my many doodles made a “blackboard” appearance in my high school year book, this photo being of my beautiful friend, Debbie:
So, naturally, when I knew I didn’t have time this year to continue my little “Dot” character “series,” the first thought that came to me when considering an image for this year’s Dot, was the perfect circle of the cornea and pupil of the human eye. Not only have eyes been said to be the “windows to the soul,” (saying’s origin unknown), but I also consider them “windows to creativity.” We bring in immeasurable information and inspiration through our vision, perpetually feeding our creativity.
Rather than drawing yet another eye, I recalled I had created a sketch as an icon for my Creativity “Cookbook” blog. In honor of Dot Day 2017, I decided to use it by modifying it just a bit; I softened the periphery and slightly darkened the cornea outline…
This day and its creators, Terry Shay, Peter and Paul Reynolds hold a special place in my “creative” heart, and if you’re not already celebrating, there are all kinds of good things happening all over the internet today on Twitter, Facebook and elsewhere. I’m sure you would also enjoy the Celebri-dots site, loaded with some pretty amazing Dots created by published authors, illustrators and other well-known lovers of Creativity and The Dot 🙂
And along with celebrating Dot Day, it’s also my THIRD Blogversary so how about a giveaway? Up for grabs is some blog swag — ALL THREE — (bookmarks, mouse pad and notebook) to one randomly chosen “continental U.S.” commenter who leaves a pertinent comment here today 😀
Happy International Dot Day, everyone! Are you celebrating?!
Celebrated with a Dot hunt and a Celebri-dot. What fun!

OOooo, a Dot hunt! Did you look for circles everywhere? I just love the idea of it 😀 And you most definitely did a Celebri-Dot that is SO clever, and here it is! 😀 http://www.celebridots.com/2017/09/sarvinder-naberhaus.html I’m so glad you commented!

This is wonderful, Donna. I wrote about Dot Day this year for the first time. I heard about it from you, so of course, all the while I was writing and sharing, I was thinking of you. I’m so pleased you’ve come to the party as well.
Congratulations on your third blogoversary. They are wonderful prizes you are giving away to celebrate. I know, because I have my own special set. Thank you. 🙂
Congratulations on the arrival of your gorgeous little granddaughter. I’m sure she gets to celebrate Dot Day too.
Celebrations all round – a winner for creativity! Joy to the world.

Oh, Norah, it makes me so happy you’re celebrating Dot Day and I hope you made a Dot! I’m definitely stopping by to read your blog post 🙂
I can’t believe it’s been 3 years and hope I can become more active here, for sure. And I love that you have some blog goodies 😀
And thank you! Yes, Charlotte is “gorgeous,” hehehe. And she’s most definitely celebrating Dot Day ALL day long with that little, very ROUND face 😀 oxox

Charlotte – how wonderful – named after the spider by any chance? That very literate and clever spider, whom I’m sure we have previously discussed. A round dot of a face. Indeed, what joy! Enjoy! 🙂

Ah, no, not after the spider (and yep, she’s been discussed 😀 ) , though now that beloved book is even more special to me due to my granddaughter. They had 3 names as “top choices” if the baby was a girl, none of which they revealed to us and somehow, when her birth was imminent, “Charlotte” entered the race and immediately overtook the other 3 in the running. They both agreed it was such a pretty name 🙂

It is a beautiful name. I’m sure she will enjoy reading about the other Charlotte when she is a little older. Enjoy! 🙂
