UP!–ARTISTS & COLORERS! A Giveaway for You :D

ArtTools_WriterSideUp.com_byDonnaMarie

Hello, everyone 😀 I’m glad you stopped by! Over the course of the next few weeks, I’m doing research on the preferences of artists and coloring enthusiasts with certain tools and could really use your help by answering a few simple multiple-choice questions. For your generosity, I’m offering prizes for three lucky winners! Pictured below, you’ll see I’m giving away two copies of Zentagle for Kids (just as useful for adults, if you ask me!), and a “Writer Side Up!” notebook  😎

I’m hoping for at least 100 participants (more would be even better!) in order to make the study more accurately reflective. Though I can only offer the prizes to U.S. residents (due to postage fees—I’m truly sorry about that :\ ), if you live outside the U.S. and feel moved to do so, I’d really appreciate your input 🙂 It would be great if you could share the link to this post with any artists or colorers you know, including groups, so I can get as many people as possible to participate. “Share” links are at the bottom of this post!

So, if you’re game, please answer these questions (check all that apply), and if you have anything else you can add, please do so in the “Other” field. Since I’ve never done a poll before, I’m not sure if Polldaddy generates a list of participants, so as an added measure, eligible contributors please leave a quick comment in order for you to be entered in the random drawing once you finish the poll 🙂 (…and please let me know if you have any problems submitting a comment…)

**If you select “Other,” it is important to please state what that “other” is 🙂 Also, click “Vote” for every question individually. Thanks!

Thank you SO much for taking the time to answer these questions, and please, if you are eligible, comment below to be entered in the drawing for one of these prizes:

  1. I dabble in all mediums, but have found digital to be the most rewarding. I really appreciate all forms of art. Good luck with your research, Donna. Now, I’m curious as to what you are up to. 😮

  2. This is a small aside but the extenders I currently have have the profile of a standard No. 2 pencil – hexagonal – and I don’t like the feel of the corners. There are probably others available but I haven’t been desperate enough to go looking yet. Good luck with your research!

  3. I use mechanical pencils for sketching but have a variety of graphite pencils for creating black and white graphite pieces. I love Prismacolor pencils and also am a fan of Caran d’Ache colored pencils. I have some Cretacolor leads and holders that are also fun to play with.

    • Thanks for all this additional info, Liz 🙂 I’m a pencil lover, but have never tried Caran d’Ache and this is the first time I’ve heard of Cretacolor. ALL interesting! 🙂

  4. I’ve never used pencil extenders. Now I want to go get some and try them. Thanks for the opportunity to win your zen tangle book. It looks great.

  5. I have a couple extenders that my daughters got in school, but I don’t use them very often–they don’t use them at all, since I have them and they don’t. I mostly paint or use pen and ink, though. Good luck with your survey!

        • So far, all I have is Photoshop Elements and I use my mouse. I got the hang of it, but it’s just not the same. I plan to eventually have a tablet. Is Surface Pro a brand? Or a model?

          • It’s a Microsoft ultrabook, and Surface is the model (there is a “Pro” and regular) It looks like a tablet, but actually has a pretty powerful PC in it, so you can use editing software too. The Fresh Paint software was updated recently, and is so much more like using real brushes, pastels, pencils, etc. I sound like a commercial, but after the Bamboo Fun fail, I didn’t think I’d ever find a tablet experience I like this well.

  6. I did this for Josie – the prize would go to her if she was picked. Just one thing: in the one poll, the question about pencil sharpening methods – she told me hand-held, I clicked vote, and then she realized she meant electric (she holds her electric one in her hand, so I see why she mistook it. Just remember this when you file the results. 🙂

  7. I want to encourage people using colored pencils for kid’s book illustration or portfolio pieces to have watercolor underneath or use the pencils in layers to build color and intensity so that it looks professional unless you are going for a very childlike look. Hope this helps someone.

  8. Hi! I am more of a painter, and will use a pencil until it’s too short and toss it. I guess I never really thought too much about an extender. Hmmm…. now I’m thinking…Best wishes on your poll.

    • Yes, it’s definitely not easy to use a pencil when it’s too short unless you only use it for filling in large areas. I’ve been using pencils much more over the past couple of years actually. Thanks so much for doing this, Patricia 🙂

    • Thanks so much, Sara! And yes, I’m letting it go a bit longer to give a chance for people to participate. I REALLY appreciate it 🙂 Also, hopefully, before long there will be more choices as far as pencil extenders are concerned!
